Generally car airconditioning systems should be serviced every 1 – 2 years depending on the make and model of your vehicle. This will help avoid expensive repairs in the future.

“The refrigerant is not used like a barbecue, the refrigerant is carried to the various components via hoses and pipes.”

“On average, a vehicle air conditioning system may lose between 1-2 percent per year. If your air conditioning system is not getting cold enough, it may be time to schedule a further inspection.”

“The team at West Coast Auto Air Conditioning recommends bringing the car into the workshop if a hose or pipe needs to be repaired. This ensures that the fittings and pipes/hoses are correctly oriented and of the proper length, and allows for accurate pressure testing once installed on the vehicle”. to find out more visit Custom made hoses page

Using recirculated air not only helps prevent exhaust fumes from entering the cabin, but also allows the air conditioner to cool the cabin more efficiently. Instead of drawing in hot air from outside, the system re-cools the already cooled air from inside the cabin, reducing strain on the components.

It might be more than just needing a regas.

Your car’s air conditioning system circulates refrigerant and special A/C oil through hoses and pipes to key parts like the compressor, condenser, filter/drier, and evaporator.
It’s a sealed system, which means the refrigerant is recycled — not used up like gas in a barbecue.

If your air conditioning is blowing warm air, it’s often due to a leak in the system or an electrical issue stopping it from working properly.

That’s why a thorough diagnosis is the best first step. It helps find the real cause of the problem and ensures your system is repaired the right way, saving you time and money in the long run.

1. Check the Refrigerant Label Under the Bonnet

Every vehicle has an A/C system information sticker under the bonnet.
It will clearly list either R134a or R1234YF.

3. Refer to Your Owner’s Manual

Your vehicle’s manual will state the correct refrigerant type used from factory.

4. Ask a Qualified Technician

If you’re unsure, we can check the system for you during an inspection at our workshop.
